All About JERNY
JERNY is a not for profit educational resource dedicated to enriching the intellectual, religious and spiritual lives of Jews, regardless of affiliation and background. JERNY is located in Albany, that capitol of New York State.
JERNY is well known, especially within the Capital District region of New York State, through their work in supplemental schools and in programs for adults and youth in Jewish institutions, synagogues of all denominations and at JERNY's Israel Center. In addition, JERNY sponsors many programs in the New England. The programming is carried out largely by the Shlichim (emissaries from Israel) and Bnot Sherut (young women in fulfillment of their national service to Israel).
JERNY is highly respected throughout the Jewish community, continuing to offer services to more than fifty "partner" organizations. JERNY also maintains an ongoing presence in Israel, cultivating ongoing relationships with alumni, former staff and entities such as the Office of the Prime Minister, Office of Foreign Affairs, the Jewish Agency for Israel, the Ministry of Education, Aluma Bat Ami and the Yad Yaakov Fund. JERNY continues to be supported a highly educated Board of Directors from a broad spectrum of Jewish backgrounds, and the generosity of individuals and institutions who find value what JERNY provides.
Finally, JERNY recently opened the Israel Resource Center, located prominently within the headquarters of the United Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York. JERNY thanks the Federation for its continuing generosity and for providing the space to help JERNY expand the services it offers.
Sulam Yaakov & JERNY
Sulam Yaakov is proud to be the primary source for the Shlichim (emissaries from Israel) who teach about Israel in JERNY’s Israel-oriented programs. Teams of Sulam Yaakov students travel to Albany twice a year to teach in a wide variety of settings in Albany and the surrounding area.
